A boiler in New Hampshire is asked to perform a sustained job, not a seasonal one. Homes in New Hampshire run heat about nine months a year, from September through May. That kind of continuous demand loads the burner and ignition system with cycle after cycle, and the wear that follows is real and cumulative. A fault that develops in February does not get a long summer to hide in. What a contractor has to establish before any quote is how the existing equipment has held up under that workload, because installation decisions in this state follow from that answer.
A quote for boiler work in New Hampshire starts with what is already in the building: the piping layout, the radiators or baseboard runs, and whether the existing distribution system can accept the pressure and flow a new unit requires. None of that can be assumed from a model number or a thermostat reading. Half the homes in New Hampshire were built in 1979 or earlier (2020-2024 ACS 5-year). A house with original cast-iron radiators may run a modern condensing boiler at the wrong return temperature, and a contractor has to measure before specifying. The scope of the assessment follows from what the house contains, not from a homeowner's description of it.
Does your county put extra stress on your HVAC equipment?

A condenser sitting outside through a New Hampshire winter faces ice load, wind, and the kind of freeze-thaw cycling that works on fasteners, coils, and refrigerant lines. A unit installed without accounting for what the local climate asks of it will be undersized where it matters and poorly placed from the start. The licensed contractor you are matched with knows how to size and site equipment for the conditions your address actually sees.
New Hampshire HVAC Installation and Repair License Requirements
New Hampshire sets its own rules for who is permitted to perform HVAC installation and repair work. The provisions below are quoted directly from state sources, not paraphrased.
New Hampshire's mechanical licensing board issues nine credentials — hearth system, four fuel gas endorsements, domestic appliance technician, and master, journeyman and apprentice plumber — and a licensee may not work outside the specialty their licence names. None of the nine is an HVAC licence.
A state license requirement means that this work is not open to any contractor who picks up a phone. It defines who is legally permitted to do the job in your home. The contractors this site routes requests to hold the license these provisions describe, and a request does not go out until that filter is satisfied.

New Hampshire does not license HVAC as a trade, and says so where it matters: the plumbing licence expressly does not reach a person installing heating, cooling, air conditioning or domestic water heating systems, whether solar, oil, gas or electric. The gas piping on a gas-fired system is a separate matter and needs a fuel gas fitter licence.
